Berawal dari Radio BOM FM berdiri sekitar tahun 2000 di jalan Tabanan 1C Semarang dengan dilatarbelakangi akan kebutuhan masyarakat Semarang untuk hiburan yang murah dalam arti bisa diakses oleh semua lapisan masyarakat, dengan format hiburan yang mengutamakan budaya daerah tetapi juga selalu mengikuti perkembangan nasional, serta memberikan informasi nasional maupun dunia. Kemudian digagaslah untuk pendirian sebuah Stasiun Pemancar Radio yang sifatnya komersial, dengan maksud supaya punya nilai tambah bagi warga Semarang yang mendengar dan punya nilai ekonomis bagi pengelolanya. Seiiring dengan perjalanan waktu dan pertimbangan marketing maka pada tanggal 13 Oktober 2014, kami mengubah nama udara menjadi RADIO THOMSON SEMARANG
